Someone once said
Do something every day that scares you.
Every day you should set yourself and complete a dare. Dare of the day.
Talk to a stranger. Touch the face or hand of someone you just met. Try to sell something whilst on public transport.
But don’t do those things. Do your own thing. You’ll know it when you find it. You’ll feel it.
This isn’t just good for getting yourself outside your comfort zone, though this is important. Research suggests that persons improve, learn and reach a flow state when they are doing something that is just a little, 4% actually, harder than they are used to; just outside their comfort zone.
Dare of The Day can also be used to come up with creative and innovative ways of moving forward.
Rather than constantly asking for permission, it is better to do something unexpected, and ask for forgiveness, if needed, later.
And you’ve exercised that muscle because you are used to pushing yourself to do scary things.
You will get better at knowing what your daily dare will be. Or even creating a daring situation. And you will react quicker when the opportunity presents itself. Any opportunity. Not just scary ones. You won’t flinch and self doubt when you have a chance to snatched the golden egg.
