Here is what has been diverting my interest this week, a list of what I’m enjoying or marinating on.
What I ate —
It was my turn to bring cake to work this week, so I had to break an have an extra cheat day on Thursday day; it would have been suspicious if I didn’t eat my own baking. As well as the fudge brownies I prepared, I also got five different cake from the above company, and they went down well. But not as well as my brownies, which made me pretty pleased with myself.
What I’m drinking —
19 Crimes Red Wine
I don’t know what grape this is but it is damn tasty. I may have got through two bottles in the last two weeks.
What inspired me and and enjoyed —
The One Love Manchester, hosted by Ariana Grande and the BBC, and featuring Coldplay, Katy Perry, Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus and others, to raise money for the victims of the terrorist bomber at the en of Ariana’s concert a couple of week ago. The concert was held the day after the attacks on London Brdige and Borough Market so was a real national opportunity for hope.
My favourite performance, mainly because it is an Australian classic (Kiwis, we get Crowded House; you guys can have the Finn brother and Split Endz), was Miley and Ariana singing ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over‘. The sng does not really suit either of their voices. Miley has a great raspy voice that lends itself to country (her Dolly Parton covers are amazing) and it’s a bit too low for Ariana, but they made a great effort with no rehearsal
What I’m watching —
American Gods.
My two friends put me onto this. It’s based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, who acts as Executive Producer.
Purchase that had the greatest effects on my life —
New lifting straps for the gym.
I have short fingers that mean that when I’m lifting heavy doing dead lifts or chin ups, my grip gives away and my forearms fatigue before my posterior chain muscles. I’ve been persevering hoping my grip strength would improve, something I will get round to working on and is very important, but in the meantime I will be able to load the ‘non-mirror’ muscles, which I’ve always prioritised, properly now. No excuses!
Songs that I am enjoying and singing to myself—
Castle On The Hill by Ed Sheeran
Issues by Julia Michael
Quote I liked and rings true –
Looking foxy is one thing. Feeling happy and turned on in life is another. Choose both
