Fundamentals and Foundations Are Key To Health, Fitness and Performance Success

If you have the best food and access to the best gyms and the best everything, but the foundations of your health and fitness practices have issues with them, it doesn’t matter how good anything is. It’s going to fall over and it’s going to fail.

In my Strong Body Strong Mind Challenge, we cover the fundamentals and foundations of mental and physical resilience building.

This is extremely important because, just like when you build a house, if you build it on bad foundations …

Let’s say you build an amazing house but it’s built on shoddy foundations and it’s built on sand. It doesn’t matter how awesome that house is, if the foundations are bad, it’s going to fall over. It’s going to collapse. The same is true in health and fitness.

If you have the best food and access to the best gyms and the best everything, but the foundations of your health and fitness practices have issues with them, it doesn’t matter how good anything is. It’s going to fall over and it’s going to fail.

Establishing fundamentals and foundations is one of the most important and crucial steps in any entire training program.

What I notice a lot of people do is a lot of people think, “Oh, I already know how to eat…
I already do some exercise…
I already pay attention to my thoughts and feelings…
I don’t need a lot of sleep…
I already know what makes me most happy…
so I can just skip over reviewing these foundation.

Believe me, it doesn’t matter how much body fat you have…
It doesn’t matter if you’re not gorging on pies and cakes…

You want to go through the Challenge in full to make sure that you re-evaluate all of the fundamentals and foundations of your health and fitness, because one small improvement here can make a world of difference in everything else.

What are the fundamentals and foundations of your health and fitness?

The first is establishing a consistent exercise routine.

Exercise is the ultimate panacea. It will improve your body composition and ‘clear your head’. Everyone knows exercise is important for every physical and mental goal.

The second thing is eating a calorie controlled, high protein, low processed foods diet.

In nutrition, it’s so important that we just from diet to diet. We want to focus on small repeatable habits instead, because when we focus on those, we can can restore our metabolism to being a fat burning machine.

The third one is your mindset, and being aware of your thought and what purpose they serve.

Your mindset is really how you communicate with yourself. You must become aware of your thoughts and self talk. Find out if they are serving you or hindering you…

You really want to get inside your own head and witness the world as it is, understand what makes you tick, and then see a gap in your thought patterns, where you can come into yourself and stage a self intervention.

Once we can see that, then you will be able to respond to every situation as your best self; how you choose to respond.

In this Challenge, fundamentals and foundations, we’ll cover sleep hygiene.

If you get sleep wrong, you can have at least a 30% dip in your productivity at your work and moods, as well as have effects on your metabolism, which is going to affect your body composition goals.

It’s almost impossible to achieve any health and fitness goal if your sleep is dysregulated. It’s almost impossible to perform at your best, regardless of how good you think you are on ‘no sleep’

Believe me, you will not feel like you are working as hard but achieving the same or better in your life, if your sleep hygiene is on point.

I’m also going to show you the science of happiness.

Researchers have studied what makes us happy for over 70 years…. and the results may surprise you.

I’m really going to boiled it down, crystallised and understand the core forces that are really at play that enable us to feel satisfied with our lives.

Getting these foundations right is the most important thing you can do in your health and fitness journey.

I don’t say that lightly. All the bells and whistles you can implement, all the 1% increments, can be valuable but if you mess this stuff up, it’s very hard to make the other things work, so I really encourage you to take the Strong Body Strong Mind Challenge, and do the work.

Make sure you take action and do the work. If you get stuck in any of the parts of the Challenge, just jump over to the Facebook group.

If you have trouble with anything at all, the Facebook group is going to really help you get unstuck, because you will have myself and other Optimizers in there, who are ready to help.

We’ve also got the Q and A consultation calls.

I really just wrote this post to stress to you the importance of establishing the foundations and fundamentals for optimal performance and well-being; ell you what lies ahead in the Strong Body Strong Mind Challenge; and really stress the importance of doing all of the work and establishing good habits.

That’s it! I look forward to working with you throughout the Strong Body Strong Mind Challenge, and I’m looking forward to seeing your results and your comments over in the Facebook group.

Yours optimally,
Scott
