Show Your Gatekeepers Some Love

Every Thursday at work is one of the physiotherapist’s turn to bring in cakes to be eaten after the team meeting. Today was my turn.

I made some brownies and chocolate fudge, and intended to have a go at Mum’s scone recipe, but instead got my hands on 5 cakes from The Cake Box .

I made sure one of them went straight to the admin/reception team.

There was a reason Charlie was the third most important person in The West Wing. There is a reason that Donna is the highest paid assistant at Pearson Specter Litt in Suits.

They are the gatekeepers; the persons who regulate the workflow.  If you wanted to get to their bosses, you had to go through them.  The admin team books my patients and receive my phone calls.

You don’t have to read Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People to know if you give someone cake, they will look fondly on you. And they all deserve a Thank You for managing my diary and dealing with patients for me.

I hope they enjoyed it!

Scott
